Bio

The 2024-2025 season will be Coach Brad Hoyt’s thirteenth season as the Director of Athletics at his alma mater. Hoyt is also entering his fourteen overall season as the Head Coach of Trail Blazer basketball. As the lead administrator at John Wood athletics, the Trail Blazers have grown by unprecedented measures under Hoyt's leadership. In the Fall of 2018, John Wood added women's volleyball, men's soccer and women's soccer to their athletic department and then, in the Fall of 2020, added eSports as an athletic program. With the additional programs, the athletic footprint on John Wood's campus more than doubled and become an integral part in the college's overall strategic plan. In February of 2024, Hoyt added the role of the Dean of Student Affairs to his business card. The Athletic Director oversees and leads 16 part-time coaches, a variety of volunteer coaches, and a part-time administrative assistant. As the lead Student Services administrator, the Dean oversees all of student services including, admissions, advising, financial aid, student life, athletics, student support services and TRIO grants, disability services and counseling services.

On campus, Coach Hoyt is actively involved in communities and leadership positions, most recently serving as the Chair of the Leadership Council, the Chair of the Student-Athlete Hall of Fame Committee, a member of the campus's Diversity and Inclusion committee, a selected member of the Behavior and Intervention committee, and a founding member of the Campus Climate Committee. He has been on the marketing committe, the technology committee, a sub-committee chairperson for the North Central Accredidation process, and a part of the Student Issues Committee in years of service to the college.

Off campus, Hoyt serves as a founding member of the NJCAA Diversity Committee and is on the NJCAA DII Men's Soccer national committee. He has been the Mid West Athletic Conference men's basketball chair and is currently serving as the Region 24 Men's Basketball DII chair. In the Fall of 2022, he will begin his two-year term as the Men's Region 24 Director, overseeing all men's sports in Region 24 and serving in a variety of national capacities.

Hoyt has also reached unprecedented success as the head coach of the men's basketball program.
